New USCIS Filing Fee Calculator Online

Last week, USCIS released a new online Fee Calculator, which will help potential applicants and petitioners more accurately determine the necessary USCIS filing fees.

If a petition is filed with the incorrect fees, whether the fee check is for more or less than the prescribed fee amount, the entire petition will be rejected and returned.  Of the more than 11 million applications processed by USCIS in fiscal year 2017, incorrect fee amounts were the leading cause of rejection.

The online fee calculator will help determine the exact filing fee required, as well as any additional fees that may be applicable to your case.  Most importantly, the fee calculator will also contain the most up-to-date fee information, as USCIS can change fees whenever they deem necessary.

To determine the filing fees for your specific forms, you may visit the website and select your form, or combination of forms and answer a series of questions.   The online fee calculator will then calculate your total fee amount.  The website does not collect any user data.

Generally, the fees are paid via check or money order, which is mailed in with the petition.  However, you may now pay via credit card by attaching the Authorization for Credit Card Transactions form with your petition.  If the credit card authorization form is deficient, your entire petition will be denied, just as if you have submitted an incorrect payment, and the will be mailed back to you.
